Why Floating Is One Of The Most Healthy Habits

September 3, 2021

Have you heard of floating (also known as float therapy or sensory deprivation) before? Here’s why it’s one of the healthiest habits that you can add to your life to always be at your best!

Looking for a way to improve your health and achieve your goals?

Floating may be the perfect tool and wellness practice to add to your routines as one of your key healthy habits. One of the things that makes float therapy so unique is that it provides a total mind and body reset, along with so many other benefits that compound over time as you begin to do it on a regular basis.

Due to the special environment that’s created in either a float pod, tank or cabin with no sound, no light, and no pressures on the body thanks to the water being supersaturated with high-quality epsom salts, both your body and mind have a rare opportunity to truly let go on a profound level, which is what allows you to achieve some of the deepest relaxation possible.

Early studies are also starting to show promising results for things like chronic pain, burnout, anorexia, anxiety, depression, PTSD, athletic recovery, sleep and stress.

How floating is one of the ultimate healthy habits

One of the reasons why I love floating so much is that the benefits that I receive from it transfer over into all of my other habits and goals, whether it’s decreased stress, more focus and energy, or a faster recovery from workouts to be able to go harder in the next session. I always feel great after my float sessions and can see how it helps support me across all areas of my life in a way that I don’t get as much with other healthy habits or wellness tools.

When I’m consistent with my float practice, I find it so much easier to stay on top of all the others like eating well or working out.

Obviously, this is felt most when you are floating on a regular basis (most people develop a practice between 1 – 4 floats per month) because the benefits become greater and start to compound over time.

Many people upon their first float session report a sense that’s often referred to as the “post-float glow”, which comes from your mind and senses being refreshed, your body feeling decompressed and your spirit feeling energized. While this often lasts between 24-48 hours, it can last much longer and become your new normal with regular enough sessions.

Breaking bad habits along the way

An extra bonus of a regular float practice is that it can reduce cravings and interrupt the cycles of addiction to help people overcome struggles such as quitting smoking or starting to eat healthier on a more consistent basis.

As you float more, you’ll find that those bad habits will start to fall to the wayside and the motivation towards better, healthier habits will grow that much more.
